Americorps Closing Ceremony

The LAYC/MMYC AmeriCorps program hosted the AmeriCorps Closing Ceremony on Friday, August 12th. Over 50 parents and family members attended the celebration. AmeriCorps Members were able to celebrate their success through a slide show presentation, awards, and a guest speaker Gloria Aparicio Blackwell -Founding Director of the Office of Community Engagement at the University of Maryland College Park. After the ceremony, AmeriCorps members, family members, and LAYC staff were able to enjoy food and refreshments.

“It was an honor and a privilege to watch our AmeriCorps members grow into young professionals. I want to thank them for giving me the opportunity to be their leader in this journey through the high and lows, through all the meetings, food banks, turkey distributions etc. The memories we made will last a lifetime. Through this year, I saw friendships being formed, laughter, tears, frustration but overall I saw a FAMILY! They supported one another through the best and rough times. I am a proud AmeriMom. As you know WE GOT THIS THINGS DONE!!”
