LAYC would like to express its sincerest thanks to corporate partner Best Buy for the generous support that it is providing to the Center for the second year in a row! Support from Best Buy will fund collaboration between the Center's Art + Media House and Advocacy Division that will teach youth leadership skills and provide them with advocacy training. This knowledge will be developed through the lens of art, as a means of healthy self-expression and a tool for extending their education by exploring community issues.
"We have built strong partnerships with many community organizations, including LAYC," local Best Buy general manager Robert Delissio said. "I value our relationship with the Center. We will always be available to offer our support to their endeavors." Through the Community Grants Program, each Best Buy territory across the United States annually selects non-profit organizations that apply for grants to support programs and services that provide opportunities for young teens related to education, life skills, leadership skills or relationship development. For the second year in a row, LAYC was chosen as the recipient for one of these grants. Shortly after LAYC received the Community Grant, Best Buy announced it would be giving Robert a Tag Team Award from the Best Buy Children's Foundation for the time and talent that he donated to LAYC. In addition to recognizing Robert's volunteering, the award also included another donation for LAYC. "This continued support from Best Buy will be put to good use," LAYC President & CEO Lori Kaplan said. "Best Buy is a wonderful corporate partner!" |
